Gold Dots in Playroom

My daughter's playroom was in need of a drastic overhaul! Affectionately dubbed "the Harry Potter Closet" it resides under the stairs, a glaringly pink testament to not letting your toddler pick out her own paint color. Full of toys, blocks and mayhem- this room was a wreck!

Evidence:

It hurts your eyes, doesn't it? Now you can't see around the corner, but it gets worse.

I knew I couldn't paint it or the small banshee would come after me, so I had to do something to subdue that bright pink. I browsed online, and on pinterest and came across this pin from Beautiful Wall Decals

Can you say super adorable? How envious I am of that subtle pink, but alas, it isn't meant to be. Perhaps adding these adorable "confetti dots" to the walls will help tame the mad pink beastie! I ordered them, and amazingly they came in only 4 days- what!? I wasn't even ready for them yet.

When she was out with her daddy I quickly sorted, trashed, and donated many of her toys. Then I ran a vacuum. It was slowly coming together- but I wanted to see how these dots would look on something a bit smaller before I attempted the walls. I pulled out an "A" (her first initial) I'd had laying around for a while with navy paint on it and stuck the dots on it. Okay, I was in love! Time to tackle the walls.

I started in a corner and had them cascade out. I thought this project would take me at least an hour, but 15 or so minutes later I was completely done. Wow! It tones down the pink, adds a visual interest, and draws your eyes up and away from the clutter of toys on the floor. I love it. I stuck the A to the wall with some command strips, and voila, time for the reveal!

Her reaction? Squeeling! I got a successful nap in for my pregnant self while she played in there for the next TWO HOURS, not even kidding. I'm in love. Thanks, Beautiful Wall Decals
